final-cut-experience

For this project I really wanted to do a sound piece that represented the epitome of “controlled chaos”. Originally I was going to self-record all of my sounds but then I came across this website that had all the sounds I was basically going to create. My piece is filled with sounds of mostly technology and unique daily items. I made a mix of sounds from clocks, finger snaps, exotic drums, camera lenses, inflators, and type writers. The ticking clocks run throughout the whole sound art in order to create a sense of urgency. I wanted the piece to sound almost like a factory, where cameras were constantly going off and type writers were recording what was being created, and in fact; many of these items are used to create art in itself. If I were to have this piece in a gallery somewhere, I can really picture the piece being in a sort of fantasy area where there is a small outdoor factory in the middle of the rain forest. I strayed away from using actual weather and rain sounds, but was able to create a sort of mystical light water sound in the background through the use of exotic drumming. This creates an ambience of calm amidst the hectic sounds of the factory. I didn’t really have a lot of preliminary research for this project, I mostly just went ahead and started experimenting with sounds until I created something I really liked.
